The special effect of Infrared is due to the behavior of Chlorophyl in the leaves of plants and trees. To anticipate on the effect you should have a good knowledge of the composition of leaves, needles and other plant material.
Some moss do not have any Infrared activity. The sky, soil, rocks etc. don't have any Infrared activity either.
The final result can be controlled by either the filter choice or the proper exposure.
